Myopia

An interesting and a revealing question was asked by one blog writer, whether FC Gold Pride is the best team ever.
In computational power, Moore’s law describes a long-term trend in the history of computing hardware. The number of transistors that can be placed inexpensively on an integrated circuit has doubled approximately every two years.
Development taking [...]

2010 African Women’s Championship

The Africa Women’s Championship finals will be hosted by South Africa in 4 weeks time, from October 31 to November 14. Interestingly, 7 former FC Indiana players will participate in this competition. The champions and runners representing the continent at next edition of the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Germany from June 26 to July [...]

Making WPS better

Last year WPS champion Sky Blue FC made an improbable playoff run to win the title. What did it mean to Sky Blue? Outside of pride and vanity, not much.
Having to make three road trips probably meant an additional expense of around $25,000 to add to their financial losses.
How is Atlanta impacted negatively by finishing [...]

FC Gold Pride win WPS title

The Philadelphia Independence showed the effects of long trips and three matches in three days as they were beaten 4-0 by Marta & Co.
Considering all the hardships Independence endured in the last two weeks they still needed to find energy for one more match and raise their level of physical performance.
Few would debate that FC [...]

How Philadelphia can win WPS title

Not many give Philadelphia Independence much chance but on Sunday, against FC Gold Pride, Paul Riley’s team will get an opportunity to show that teams with the biggest stars but average tactically, will not necessarily beat well organized teams, such as Philadelphia is. And with grit, pressing, running, and clinical finishing, Philadelphia do have a [...]

Philadelphia beats Boston

This was a highly entertaining and enjoyable match to watch as Philadelphia Independence came from behind to win 2-1 over Boston last night. Unfortunately, the match was overshadowed by Danesha Adams’s handball match winning goal.
Boston began brightly, dominating midfield but Independence’ Sanderson intelligently dropped deeper when Boston had possession to strengthen the Independence midfield.
The hosts [...]

Philadelphia vs. Boston

Tonight’s match, I believe, will be decided by three things, the midfield battle, Smith vs. Buczkowski, Alex Scott.
A midfielder in today’s women’s game has got to be fit and strong and they must have running power to be able to get up and down the field. They have to drive forward and get into the [...]

Evaluating players – its not just talent that matters

Often, when evaluating players to add to their teams, coaches look for talent and athleticism. For me the following criteria are important when evaluating and selecting players:
1. Technical ability and quickness – speed and natural ability are paramount.
2. Discipline – discipline in training and life speaks loud about player’s priorities and their commitment to their [...]

Becky Sauerbrunn

Pia Sundhage announced her 30-player squad for two friendlies against China. Sundhage selected nine defenders for the friendlies;
Rachel Buehler (FC Gold Pride), Stephanie Cox (Boston Breakers), Whitney Engen (Chicago Red Stars), Ali Krieger (FFC Frankfurt), Amy LePeilbet (Boston Breakers), Heather Mitts (Philadelphia Independence), Christie Rampone (Sky Blue FC), Meghan Schnur (Sky Blue FC), Brittany Taylor [...]

Watching WPS matches/highlights

Marketers understand the value of packaging and perceptions.
It is not always about the product but rather how it is packaged and presented.
WPS football has enough good talent and good matches. Without a doubt, in many aspects, any WPS match is as competitive and good as in any league in the world.
However, occasionally it doesn’t look [...]
